Unesco description
The contiguous national parks of Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho, as well as the Mount Robson, Mount Assiniboine and Hamber provincial parks, studded with mountain peaks, glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, canyons and limestone caves, form a striking mountain landscape. The Burgess Shale fossil site, well known for its fossil remains of soft-bodied marine animals, is also found there.

Mount Kidd is a 2,958-metre double-summit massif centrally located in Kananaskis Country in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada. Mount Kidd is situated within Spray Valley Provincial Park. It was named after an Alberta rancher.

Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres outside the hamlet of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 1,884 metres. The lake has a surface area of 50 hectares.

Lake Louise is a hamlet in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, known for its turquoise, glacier-fed lake ringed by high peaks and overlooked by a stately chateau. Hiking trails wind up to the Lake Agnes Tea House for bird’s-eye views. There’s a canoe dock in summer, and a skating rink on the frozen lake in winter. The Lake Louise Ski Resort features a wildlife interpretive center at the top of a gondola.

Castle Mountain (Blackfoot: Miistukskoowa) is a mountain located within Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, approximately halfway between Banff and Lake Louise.
It was formed when weak limestone shales eroded, leaving the more resistant ¨towers¨, which give this landmark its distinctive shape

Jasper national park:
Jasper national park is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies. It was named after Jasper Hawes, who operated a trading post in the region. It was named a Unesco site for the mountain landscapes including glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, canyons, limestone caves, as well as fossils.
Maligne Lake and Spirit Island:
Maligne Lake is famed for the color of its water, the peaks surrounding it, the three glaciers visble from the lake and Spirit island, one of the most photographed locations in the world.
Spirit Island is a tiny island in Maligne Lake and one of the most famous views of the Canadian Rockies.

Athabasca River

The Athabasca Glacier is one of the six principal ‘toes’ of the Columbia Icefield, located in the Canadian Rockies. The glacier moves down from the icefield at a rate of several centimetres per day. The glacier is approximately 6 km long, covers an area of 6 km2, and is measured to be between 90–300 metres thick.

The close proximity of the glacier to the Icefield Parkway makes it one of the most accessible in North America. It was formed during the Great Glaciation, or Illinoisan period (238,000 to 126,000 BCE).
